Theory: Woody's Roundup, In-Universe Series Revival?

I’m sure we’re all aware of Toy Story 2, when that toy collector guy, Al stole Woody for his Woody’s Roundup memorabilia collection, since the toy museum he wanted to sell it to was only interested in a complete collection.

But if Woody, Jessie and Bullseye are so valuable and rare, why exactly does this never get addressed when the antique store owner in Toy Story 4 saw Woody or in Monsters Inc, when Boo has a Jessie doll in her room? Nobody would let a little kid play with something that valuable, not to mention, they seem to be everywhere right now, including Andy’s childhood bedsheets and cowboy hat.

My theory is simple. After the Woody’s Roundup series was canceled, toy companies in the Pixar-verse eventually made an attempt to revive the series, which naturally included less-valuable secondary editions of the toys.

Toy companies do that all the time. *  Barbie, Pound Puppies, Lincoln Logs, My Little Pony, GI Joe, He-Man, Strawberry Shortcake, you name it. They take something old and introduce it to a new generation. This usually gets the attention of both kids and nostalgic adults. And the newer variants of the merchandise are usually more common and thus, have less value as a collectible so Al’s pretty much given up on getting them, since the ones sold online are way more likely to be version 2.0.

So in other words, Boo’s Jessie doll is a later edition from an attempt to reboot the series.

That also explains why there are like, a million copies of them in every store you visit now too. And hopefully, the rebooted Jessies aren’t all afraid of enclosed spaces and the dark like the original.

On the bright side, this means Jessie doesn’t have to worry about being forgotten anymore. Thank you, Taylor Swift.
*You can look that up if you don’t believe me.
