Story Hangovers: The Parent Trap (and the Bad Parenting Trap)

Remember The Parent Trap? The identical twins who were separated after their parents broke up because they didn’t want to have to constantly switch them between two different schools? There's a simple solution to that . It's called homeschooling.  I might’ve only watched the movie because my mom made me, but it still made me think. How exactly is their “solution” better?  Honestly, wha t kind of parents break up twins and never tell them that the other exists? I don’t have a twin, but I know plenty of them and I’ve asked them about it and researched this topic since I’ve always wanted one.  Not only is it completely unfair to deny the girls their right to know their sister, but separating identical twins can cause physiological issues later in life. These include a feeling that they’re constantly missing a part of themselves and are alone in the world which can lead them to violently act out because they don’t know how to express these feelings, since the bond ...

Story Hangover Thoughts: Sister, Sister

In the 90s sitcom series Sister, Sister , I would like to point out that whoever made the decision to place them for adoption after their birth mother died from childbirth complications rather than attempting to locate relatives, along with the adoption agency used need to work on their ethical skills.   The court is supposed to consider the best interests of the children involved before the decision is made, and clearly, they didn't do that. How is it in the best interest of newborn identical twins to be separated before they even establish a relationship? Placing siblings, especially twins, in separate homes is actually generally frowned upon as the benefits of keeping them together massively outweigh the drawbacks.   Research has shown that the negative outcomes can include,  Increased risk for mental health problems : Separation can lead to issues such as anxiety and depression .  1 Loneliness and stress : Siblings may experience feelings of iso...

Story Hangover Thoughts: Times Ned Flanders Broke The Law

Image
An open letter to: Ned Flanders,  Even you, Mr. "Perfect Christian" have messed up several times in your crusade towards your faith.  * The time when you and your wife were granted custody of the Simpson children after a series of misunderstandings involving Bart getting headlice and Lisa's shoes being stolen by bullies, got Homer and Marge in trouble with Child Services, you tried to baptize the three after Lisa revealed none of them had been.  FUN FACT:   Foster parents can't legally do that without consent from the birth parents.   So, you're probably going to lose your license.  *  You forced Springfield Elementary to teach Creationism in place of Evolution because you personally didn't agree with it, and almost got Lisa arrested for voicing her opinion, and as a substitute teacher, led the fourth graders in prayer. Church and State are separated, and as such, you legally cannot force a public school to obey religion. Besides, ...

Story Hangovers: Atypical Love

Image
If you have issues with this particular lifestyle, before you freak out at me for my viewpoint, at least hear me out!  Why   does the world have so many stipulations about love and happiness? You can't control your brain chemistry or your heart!  The whole point of including same-sex couples in family shows is to promote acceptance and representation. The media isn’t trying to recruit children for a homosexual army or whatever the theory is now, they just want to encourage acceptance of people who are different.   We have people whining about an alleged “gay agenda” which is just plain not true. In fact, FUN FACT : did you know that the English word “ homosexual ” wasn’t even in the Bible until 1946? It’s actually used as a mistranslation of the word “ arsenokoitai ” which refers to assault and harassment. You can look that word up as evidence. It’s a documented historical fact that sexual orientation and identity weren’t even a thought when the Bib...
