Story Hangovers: Atypical Love
If you have issues with this particular lifestyle, before you freak out at me for my viewpoint, at least hear me out!
The whole point of including same-sex couples in family shows is to promote acceptance and representation. The media isn’t trying to recruit children for a homosexual army or whatever the theory is now, they just want to encourage acceptance of people who are different. We have people whining about an alleged “gay agenda” which is just plain not true.
Seriously, if being in love with a person who changed your life for the better is wrong, why did God make them like that?
As an allegory, couples such as the two main leads of Disney’s Gargoyles have had a ton of issues with bigotry because people view their love as wrong just because it's the slightest bit different or unusual.
It’s not weird for Detective Maza to be romantic with Goliath the Gargoyle! They both love each other to the ends of the earth. Their Beauty and the Beast Halloween costume? Adorable. And totally fitting.
| Who cares if it's a little weird? They're HAPPY. |
Why can’t the world be as accepting as Elisa’s family was? Who cares if they can’t have their own children because gargoyles lay eggs? They can always adopt and besides, Goliath has a daughter from his previous mate anyway.
I guess it would be a little weird if Angela’s stepmother is about a thousand years younger than she is, but love is still love. Even with weird technicalities included.
Another Disney favorite of mine, Star vs the Forces of Evil, gave us a similar scenario.
The government didn’t even bother to give Eclipsa Butterfly and her monster husband, Globgor, a chance to prove they could rule the kingdom of Mewni!
They just imprisoned the two in magical crystals for three centuries and sent their infant daughter, Meteora, to be raised in a reform school by a robot who trained her to be ashamed of and hide her magic and monster traits.
| Yeah, a loving couple and their adorable daughter. So scary! |
I’m just glad that a combination of magic from Star and Eclipsa destroyed Heinous, which allowed Meteora to be reverted to what she was to begin with; an adorable baby girl with equal traits showing her heritage.
At least that’s what most fans think it was, we’re not a hundred percent sure. I honestly don’t care how it happened, I’m just glad Eclipsa got her family back!
Why can’t the world just let people be happy? Look at the expressions in the pictures above! You can’t fake that kind of pure love and happiness! Who cares about looks?
