Story Hangover Thoughts: Wild Thornberrys Movie (The Poison of Projecting)

In  situations like The Wild Thornberrys Movie, An open letter to: Cordelia Thornberry, I get that Eliza was being punished for putting herself in danger like she did, but you were completely out of line. You basically forced your son and daughter-in-law to let your take your youngest granddaughter to boarding school even though you knew full well that they didn’t want to separate their family and that an adventurous tomboy like Eliza would find attending an upper-class British boarding school tortuous. Grounding her to the Comvee, (the family's mobile home) for a month would’ve been more effective. At least you realized your error when Eliza ran away from the school after one day and hitched a ride back to her family. This being the 1990s, it was actually a lot easier for an unaccompanied minor and a chimpanzee who imprinted on the family and just never left, it's a long story, to get aboard an international flight than it would be now. Do you really think keeping you...

Story Hangover Thoughts: The Book of Life

Did that general really have to send his daughter to study in a convent school as punishment for once again, causing trouble?  I know that Maria made it very clear that she’d loved the experience, but come on , spending ten years away from her two best friends with limited time with her family, (or at least her father since a source from the film crew on the fandom site says Maria apparently lived with her mother during the interval), because her father couldn’t accept that he was raising a tomboy? I get that he had to punish her for acting out, but did he consider the possibility that maybe she was doing it because she wanted the attention of her busy father?  Just so you know, no, Maria did not become a prim and proper lady. (Thank goodness). She actually just became the older version of a rebellious tomboy. She even took up fencing as an extracurricular activity. If you’re going to send your child aboard, they should have a say in it, and you should put yourself in thei...

Suggestions

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get more people to read this blog? Because I've run out of ideas and am open to suggestions.

Getting Answers

I've decided that if I want to know the answers to my many, many questions from my book hangovers, I'm just going to contact the writers. Other than GoodReads, I've had to look up a lot of authors' websites. Anyone else have any questions for a writer?

Are You Kidding Me?! Star Wars

Image
I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but I just realized that if Luke and Leia are brother and sister who had to be separated to protect them from Vadar, then doesn't that mean that their first real crushes and kisses were with their sibling?! EWWWW.  I mean, I'm all for sibling love, but does nobody else find that... ICKY?

Story Hangover Thoughts: Wicked and I Guess by Extension, The Wizard of Oz

Image
I can now tell you how Wicked ends. Not from the musical or from a leaked trailer, but from the original source. The books .  Even though we now know why the Wicked Witch of the West did the things she did, with her skin discoloration, her "father's" clear favoritism of her sister and the way the semi-anthropomorphic animals of Oz were treated, (which I have to agree with her on), definitely contributing, I still think Elphie went a little overboard.  If you don't like the way the world sees you, you can either feed into it, or you can do something to show them they're wrong.   Elphie definitely took the former. She didn't have to be so harsh with Dorothy. The house falling on her sister and the shoes ending up with her weren’t her fault! She was just a lost kid caught up in a misunderstood woman’s uphill battle against discrimination. The two actually have a lot in common. Elphaba grew up in an estate, mostly raised by her "father's" hous...

Random Knowledge June 3, 2025

I thought I'd share some of my many, many random facts that I know with the world. I looked it up, and people search the weirdest things online. If you keep your month open and blow through one nostril at a time when you blow your nose, your ears don't get clogged up as fast. Your tax refund is likely being processed. There are approximately 117.6 million other refunds being processed. That takes time.  There are eight fluid ounces in a cup. I believe that also answers the question of when you'd ever need to know that sort of thing.  No, the horse in Spirit Riding Free and Spirit Untamed is not the same horse from the original. You can tell the fairly obvious difference because the original Spirit doesn't have a blaze down his nose.  Yes, a blaze is what you call the thick, white stripe down a horse's muzzle.  There are  3.78541178 liters in a gallon. The human stomach can dissolve razor blades. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME The tongue is the strongest muscle...

Stress-Blogging: June 2, 2025

As an American,  I've been wanting to voice my concerns regarding the direction our country's leadership and effect on the rest of the world is taking.  Both for my anxiety and because I'm genuinely curious.  Besides, it's in the United States Constitution that I'm entitled to peacefully protest my thoughts and opinions, and unless I've directly contributed to something illegal, then it's a federal law that there's nothing anyone can do about it, so if you don't like this, don't read it. You're not required to agree with someone, you know!  I'd just like to ask a few questions. I figured that if the head of our country is so concerned with social media, to the point that he'll tweet confidential information and who knows what else, this could finally get his attention.  Mr. Trump, if you're reading this, to reiterate, I'm  not  criticizing you, I just want to ask a few questions to you and if not you, your followers.    I...
