Question

I've been trying to think of something mildly controversial to post because apparently, controversy gets views. I need something mild because I'm trying to keep this site at a G to PG rating. Any ideas? The internet gave me a list of suggestions. Can you tell me what you think?     What is the most important issue in society today?  Should parents be allowed to make decisions for their children? Is technology a good or bad thing? Should schools have a curriculum that includes alternative viewpoints? Is it acceptable to use social media for personal expression? Should parents have the right to decide what children can and cannot eat? Is it ethical for businesses to use surveillance technology? Should the government provide financial assistance to families with children? Is it acceptable for companies to use AI in their decision-making processes? Should there be a limit on the number of hours a person can work in a day?

Story Hangover Thoughts: The Owl House

Image
W hile I respect that others have a right to free speech and to their own opinions, when haters successfully get something canceled, why does it always have to be something I like? It seems like everytime I choose a favorite series; someone finds the slightest thing wrong with it and throws a fit until they get their way.  I finally got fed up and decided to turn the tables in my favor. It occurred to me a long time ago that two can play at that game. Hey, turnabout is fair play.  No, I won’t disclose my plan, but you’ll find out about it eventually. Especially since it’s already working.   The Owl House is getting a premature cancellation for the stupidest reason. Not because it takes place in a world called the Boiling Isles, located in the Demon Realm, atop a landmass formed entirely from the decaying body of a giant, fallen Titan, or because the main character lives with Eda, a witch who was accidentally cursed by her sister, (long story), Eda’s adoptive an...

Story Hangover Thoughts: 101 Dalmatian Street

Image
Does anyone else wonder how Cruella DeVile expects to wear a fur coat made of puppies? Nobody wears fur anymore and that would get her arrested for grand theft puppy in 101 seconds flat!  The newest Dalmatian generation from 101 Dalmatian Street, Pongo and Perdita’s great-great-granddaughter, Delilah and her husband, Doug have had their run-in with her too. And no, this time Cruella had nothing to do with them having ninety-nine kids. Doug and Delilah each had fifteen from previous marriages, then had fifteen more together and adopted the other fifty-four.  Their two oldest, Dylan and Dolly, helped defeat the Devil Woman this time, Doug and Delilah were so proud of them.  Cruella’s grandnephew, Hunter, switched sides the moment he figured out that a fur coat meant killing the dogs. He had the same innocent misconception I did when I was little. You know how you can relatively painlessly shear off a sheep's wool and then it grows back? Hunter had genuinely thoug...

Story Hangover Thoughts: Miraculous

Image
In the  Miraculous Ladybug series, (which isn’t a Disney show, it just airs on Disney Channel in the United States), there’s one question on everyone’s mind. While we’re well aware that Adrien Agreste AKA Cat Noir, was educated at home until middle school, ( Fun Fact: The French word “ collège” translates roughly to secondary school rather than actual college or high school), because of his modeling career, they never specify what his life was like before his mother’s “disappearance”. (Not telling because it’s a huge spoiler!) When Emilie was around, was Gabriel less overprotective and more involved in his son’s life? Was Adrien tutored by someone other than his father’s personal assistant, Nathalie or was Gabriel at least home for dinner more than twice a year? (Update: as of season five, the answer is yes. Both parents may have been busy, but Emilie was as present in her son's life as she could be). When I say Gabriel is overprotective, I mean it in almost every se...

Questions: JK Rowling

Before jumping to conclusions, you should always get the full story. For example, w hile I have no problem with Transgender people, I would like to clarify something important.  JK Rowling may have posted a few tweets that sound biased against the Transgender Community, but I did some actual research on her past and it may interest you to know that Rowling’s comment primarily stands from an abusive first marriage, so of course she’d be a little touchy about people assigned male at birth taking female jobs. She worked her way up from the ground and was actually told to use her initials because boys weren’t going to read a book written by a woman.  Also, sex and gender are actually two completely different things. Sex refers to the biological difference between men and women which you’re born with. (The way babies are made is different. You’ll have to ask your parents about that, kids). Gender is actually more of an individual’s concept of themselves and th...

Story Hangover Thoughts: The Simpsons RE: Lisa's Ignored Potential

Image
While the roots of some sibling rivalries are made clear, others are more complex.  Take The Simpsons episode when an IQ test made the family believe that Maggie could be smarter than Lisa.  Homer and Marge could care less about their older daughter’s academic excellence, First Chair in the school band, College-level reading and multilingual skills, Homer even refused to let her attend a better school on a well-earned scholarship because he didn’t want to drive forty-five minutes every day, despite the fact that if they live that far from the school, Lisa would likely have taken a school bus.  But when their younger daughter exhibits the slightest hint of intelligence, they buy her educational toys, quiz her with flashcards and do everything in their power to encourage her. And when an envious and jealous Lisa makes a clearly sarcastic comment during flashcard practice, they yell at her, saying she’s not being a good role model, resulting in Lisa shutting hers...
